Yeah, so today the high was about 83 degrees, while the weather forecast predicted it’d only get up to 76 degrees. Bit of a discrepancy, eh? Defiantly shorts and tee shirt weather, which is arguably the best type of weather. However, today I realized that my short from last summer are now way to short to wear out of the house. A combination of shrinking during washing and growing another inch this past winter lead me to a very awkward situation, shopping for clothes. I have yet to meet a straight man who enjoys shopping for clothing (In hind sight one person comes to mind but he did it to try hitting any women shopping that looked to be about his age).

Anyways, in all nineteen years of my life I do not remember it being this worm on my birthday. I remember “back in the day” when we still had snow on my birthday (and I used to play lemmings on my dad’s 486 DX2 66Mhz machine with a whopping 1.5GB of disk space and a quad speed CD-ROM drive). Reminiscing is quasi-depressing so I’ll refrain from doing that.

One quick update on those interesting things promised in the previous post, they are coming just be patient.

After a brief absence due a hardware failure, Weblogs.us is back. A slue of new hardware accompanies the return. From this time forward service outages should be rare (unless someone gets Dugg). JD installed a new 8 core woodcrest server with 8GiB ram for the new Apache/PHP/file server, and the SQL server was replaced as well. Since some nasty traffic was making it to the old Apache server, a dedicated hardware firewall was installed a good thing all around as the bad traffic was at times taking up to half of the network activity. Look forward to some more interesting updates here as some projects wrap up and the semester winds down.

One final thing, Happy Birthday James (jmweirick)! (This may be off by a day or so)

Today marks the beginning of RIAA-free month, participate or face the wrath of DMCA. Normally I’d be all on top of this, and writing more about it, but this semester is not like the previous. What free time I do have is spent working for clients (I have a website to re-launch). Good thing spring break is the week after the next. I’ll leave you with a short phrase with insight to the future. Watch out K2.

Michael Crook as of 6:16PM CST, withdrew his DMCA complaint that was sent to take down a screen capture of a Fox News Channel appearance that he made back in 2005. So the whole ordeal is over, unless if one wants to get the article one removed and the image back up, which requires some database work.

Tonight, JD put up the new Weblogs.us website. This, as previous posts suggest, is just phase one in the transformation. Enjoy it.
