Beta 2 Problems

It looks like the Breadcrumb NavXT 3.0 Beta 2 has an issue with migrating settings over from 2.1.x. The SVN trunk should have a fix for this, please download that instead of Beta 2 at this time. A few other miscellaneous things are preventing the full release. Expect these to be cleared up by Thursday. Thus, the release will happen either Thursday evening, or Sunday night. Oh, and WPMU should be supported by the SVN Trunk version now, but it needs testing by WPMU users.

Download Breadcrumb NavXT – SVN Trunk.

  1. Hi John –
When I updated the Breadcrumb NavXT – Adminstration Interface it wouldn’t activate because it triggered a fatal error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /home/curre6/public_html/horsesciencenews/wp-content/plugins/breadcrumb-navxt/breadcrumb_navxt_admin.php on line 37

Now breadcrumbs no longer work at http://www.horsesciencenews.com

    Can this be fixed?

  2. Liz,

Beginning with Breadcrumb NavXT 3.0 you need to have PHP5 running on your webserver. This error is generated by PHP4.

You can try adding the following to your .htaccess file:

    AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

That on many hosts will enable PHP5, if it still does not work, inquire with your webhost on how to upgrade to PHP5.

  3. Thanks John – that solved the problem.

I did notice some bugs when the current page is linked in breadcrumbs. For search results, I ended up at home page. For tags, I got 404. Although I’ve opted not to use a link for the current page, so these issues don’t concern me, I thought you might like to know.
Many thanks for such a useful plugin.

  4. Liz,

When the current page is set to linked, that breadcrumb’s href value in the anchor is left blank. That for most browsers should represent the current page. However in some it does not. In 3.1 the behavior of that will change again and will provide a link as it used to back in pre 2.1.
