Breadcrumb NavXT 3.4.0

Holy custom taxonomies batman! With Breadcrumb NavXT 3.4.0 support for taxonomies was rewritten for support of WordPress’ custom taxonomies for taxonomy archives and posts. Additionally, dates may be used as the taxonomy in the breadcrumb trail for posts now. Finally, translations in Italian are now available thanks to Luca Camellini.

You can grab the latest version of Breadcrumb NavXT from the Breadcrumb NavXT page.

  1. John,

I’m seeing an error when navigating to some pages on my blog (v3.4.0):

Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in /home/william/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/breadcrumb-navxt/breadcrumb_navxt_class.php on line 71

You can see the error yourself here: http://www.szilveszter.ca/blog/archives/category/technology/page/2

Disabling the plugin results in being able to navigate to the page just fine.

    Cheers,

    WS

I’ve played around with the settings and it looks like the error only shows up when I have “Include the paged breadcrumb in the breadcrumb trail. Indicates that the user is on a page other than the first on paginated posts/pages.” checked.

I’ve disable the option and the page above loads fine.

      • WS,

Yeah two other people have already reported this. It should be fixed in the SVN trunk, and will be fixed in the 3.4.1 release later today.

        • Just installed 3.4.1. Fixed it. Although it reset all my settings (I don’t remember older versions doing this), it wasn’t a big deal to get it back up and running.

          Problem is fixed now.

Thanks again for your terrific plugin and super support :)

          • WS,

Hmm, it shouldn’t have reset the settings. Looks like there is a problem in that install code. That’s getting redone in 3.5.0.

  2. Hi,
I just created custom taxonomies and I find no option in the plugin?

Could you tell me what is the code to insert on the template to show the breadcrumb ?

The hierarchy without custom taxonomies is like this :
    home > parent category > child-cat > sub-child cat > sub-sub-child-cat > article

Custom taxonomies start from there :
    child-cat > sub-child cat > sub-sub-child-cat > article

And i wanted to know how to prefix these custom taxonomies breadcrumbs by “home > parent category > ” ?

    Thanks for your help,
    Ang
