Breadcrumb NavXT 3.1.0

Welcome to the 3.1.0 branch of Breadcrumb NavXT, to your right you’ll notice paged archives, searches, and the front page all work in a more coherent manner. In the back you’ll notice that the administrative interface has been tweaked to match the look and feel of WordPress 2.7 even better than before. You’ll also notice that the tabbed interface, once a separate plugin, is now built in.

All included translations should be up to date, including the German translations that fell behind since the 3.0.0 release.

You can grab the latest version of Breadcrumb NavXT from the Breadcrumb NavXT page.

  1. Hi there,
Great tool, Breadcrumb NavXT. Love the new version 3.1.0. I would be glad to deliver you the Dutch translation. Please give me some instruction in which procedure to follow. Have a little bit experience with poEdit, but don’t know how to activate translated catalogs. (I have now made some translations directly in the .php file, but this is the dirty solution of course.) Thanks in advance.

    • Stan,

WordPress may have a poEdit guide, but if not the quickest thing to do is open up poEdit. Select File > New catalog from POT file… then specify the .POT file included with Breadcrumb NavXT. That should give you the list of translatable strings, as well as a quick setup guide to setup for the language you are translating to. Once you get the .po and .mo files, e-mail them to me via the e-mail address on the contact page.

  2. Maybe it’s just me, but Tabulator (Breadcrumb NavXT Extending) [PHP5] doesn’t seem to update itself. It’s still v3.0.2 after updating to v3.1.0.

I actually don’t use it, but WP reports it needs an update. :-)

Thanks for the great plugin John!

    • You can savely disable the Tabulator Plugin with Breadcrumb NavXT 3.1. It is not needed any longer for it.

Please tell me: do you use the Tabluator Plugin on other Admin-Pages as well?

        • The Tabular plugin does not exist in Breadcrumb NavXT 3.1.0, it is integrated into the administrative interface. If you used the WordPress plugin update method it should have removed all the old files for you.

If it didn’t remove the file, you can safely remove the tabular PHP file.

  3. Hi John,

I have a bilingual French/English site using WP 2.7, Breadcrumb NavXT 3.1.0 and qTranlate 2.2.3. Because of the new localization features in 3.1.0, “Blog” is automatically translated to “Accueil”, which is great. However, I would like to change “Blog” to “Home” while keeping “Accueil”. Can this be done in breadcrumb_navxt_class.php or do I need to edit the .POT file?

    Thanks for your help,
    Andrea

    • Andrea,

The localization translations are not relevant for multilingual sites. You’ll have to just use the qTranslate quicktags in the settings (assuming you are using the administrative interface plugin). I strongly recommend not modifying the breadcrumb_navxt_class.php or the .POT file unless you really know what you are doing. Then again, *IF* qTranslate does what it should, which would be very cleaver, then modifying the english.po file may get you what you want. You can try it, I’m not sure if it will work or not.

  4. when install plugin, I get error
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
    PHP Error Message
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class bcn_breadcrumb in …/wp-content/plugins/breadcrumb-navxt/breadcrumb_navxt_class.php on line 28

    Why ?

    Thank’s

    • Alan,

Do not activate both the core and administrative plugin, only one or the other. Otherwise you’ll cause those errors. What you did is you activated the administrative plugin and then the core plugin.

  5. This is a great plugin!

I’d like to have a different font size just for the ‘home_title’.

I want to use it directly as the blog title and I want to make it bigger than the rest of the trail. But I can’t find any point in your php/css files, where I can add this change. Do I miss something?

    Thank’s

    • Paolo,

You have to setup the styling yourself (Breadcrumb NavXT does not supply any styling). In this case what you need to do is use the home_prefix and home_suffix options to wrap the home title in <span> tags. You can assign the span tags a class such as “home” and then use that to style the “home_title”.

  6. Hi John, when i want to install i get those error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in …/wordpresse/wp-content/plugins/breadcrumb-navxt/breadcrumb_navxt_admin.php on line 46

  7. Hi I’m new to WordPress, I just followed the instructions to install but there is some error :

“Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class bcn_breadcrumb in ../plugins/breadcrumb-navxt/breadcrumb_navxt_class.php on line 22”

I hope the above answer is solution for this error. But I don’t know how to activate a core plugin or administrative plugin. Can you please explain?

    • Sarat,

What version of the plugin are you using? Try deactivating all other plugins and switch to one of the default WordPress themes (twentyten or twentyeleven). Then try activating Breadcrumb NavXT.
